About the Opportunity

A new entrant to the Australian wholesale market is seeking a fractional marketing consultant to lead its go-to-market strategy from the ground up. The business manufactures and supplies recycled PET food-grade packaging (used in bakery and fresh produce applications) and is also exploring a second product line in the wholesale food space. Both products are sold business-to-business, and the brand is starting with a blank sheet in the Australian market.

This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the market-entry strategy for an established overseas manufacturer entering Australia, working directly with the founder.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a sales and marketing strategy to introduce the products into the Australian wholesale market

  • Identify and build relationships with wholesale buyers, distributors, and businesses operating in the packaging and food supply sector

  • Advise on and help navigate compliance and certification requirements relevant to importing and selling food-grade packaging in Australia (e.g. environmental and food-safety certifications expected by buyers)

  • Support brand positioning decisions for the Australian market, including input on naming and market presentation

  • Represent the business in person at buyer meetings where appropriate, including presenting physical product samples

  • Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations back to the founder as the go-to-market plan develops

About You

  • Proven experience in B2B sales and marketing, ideally within packaging, food supply, FMCG, or import/wholesale sectors

  • Familiarity with both the Indian and Australian business environments is highly valued, given the nature of this market entry

  • Working knowledge of (or willingness to quickly get across) compliance and certification pathways for imported food-contact packaging in Australia

  • Comfortable working autonomously and building a strategy from scratch, with minimal existing infrastructure to lean on

  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the confidence to represent a new brand in person to prospective wholesale buyers

  • Based in Melbourne, with the ability to attend in-person meetings as needed

Engagement Details

  • Fractional/part-time basis, scope and hours to be agreed based on the pace of market entry

  • Immediate start preferred - the business is moving as quickly as possible from a standing start

  • Engagement managed via contract, with clear deliverables and regular check-ins with the founder
